Sustainability at Redcurrent

Here at Redcurrent, we are always striving to lessen the impact we have on our planet and are consistently implementing ways to become more sustainable in our everyday practices. We have outlined a few ways below in which we are working towards becoming more sustainable, such as our reusable bags, compostable postage bags and working with suppliers who also share the same values and sustainable practices that we do. We invite you to take a read and learn more about how we committed to continuously improving our sustainability practices.

Reusable Bags

In a world where we are forever on the go, making sure we have sustainable bag options handy is imperative. We offer our RedFriends three reusable, sustainable bags when shopping in-store with us. There is an option to suit everyone - ranging from Paper Bags, Cotton Tote Bags and Canvas Bags - all that are designed to be reused.

Furoshiki Wrapping

In store, we offer a sustainable alternative to traditional gift wrap - Furoshiki Wrapping. Who needs a bag when you can carry your gift out in a beautiful silk-feel scarf! Furoshiki embraces the philosophy of eco-friendly and thoughtfulness. Using one of our luxurious Silk-Feel Scarves it means the fabric becomes reusable and is multipurpose. We love styling our Silk-Feel Scarves with bags, around your neck, in your hair... or even reuse it next time you're gift wrapping something!

Compostable Postage Bags

To ship our Online orders, we use fully compostable bags by R3Pack. In addition to being plastic free, the bags are made from plants so are fully compostable both at home and commercially.

Our Suppliers

When sourcing our suppliers, it is imperative to us that they align with our values and are also working to achieve sustainable production. Our Furniture Supplier works with Trees 4 Trees, and have planted more than 114,000 trees since the end of 2014. In addition to this, they also work alongside local artisan suppliers to help improve their workshops and ensure they recieve the support they need.

Reusing Your Products

In addition to striving for sustainability with our current and future products, we are always looking for ways to sustainably reuse and re-purpose what we currently have. One of our favourite ways to do this is with our Candle Jars - they can be used for storing spices, cotton pads, pens, makeup brushes and more. Head on over to our Candle Jar Re-purposing Blog for all the info on cleaning and reusing your jars.
