As New Zealand goes into lockdown for four weeks to stop the rapid spread of Covid-19, we may find ourselves lacking ideas on what to do to keep entertained during this whole ordeal. Here at Redcurrent, we'll be sharing our favourite recipes, work from home tips and ways to relax in what is sure to be a stressful time, right here on our blog.
To start off this series, on day one of our isolation we'll be whipping up a batch (or two!) of our Co-Founder Audrey McHardy's infamous, family favourite Tomato Sauce. It's a great way to fill time and sure to go down a treat.

- 5.5kgs tomatoes
- 1.3kgs brown sugar
- 90g salt
- 90g allspice
- 0.7L malt vinegar
1. Wash and cut Tomatoes
2. Tie spice in a muslin bag - a cotton handkerchief also works well for this.
3. Put all ingredients into a large pot and bring to boil. Turn down to a simmer and stir frequently.
4. When cooked through, vitamise/blend in a food processor for a few minutes.
5. Bottle into clean jars and enjoy!
